Hugh started in the motor industry on leaving school in 1953.

Beginning on a message bicycle working for a local Garage in the town of Coleraine, his flair for the trade was such that he was asked to join the sales team around 1960.

By 1974 he felt it was time to step out on his own, and rented small premises in Coleraine (Martin's Brae), where he acquired the Opel franchise.

In 1976 a Greenfield site became available on the outskirts of Coleraine near Macosquin where he decided to build his own premises complete with showroom, workshop and parts department

Opel and Vauxhall amalgamated around 1982 and things remained constant until 1996 when the business further expanded with the addition of a larger showroom.

Today sees McKeary Motors competing successfully in an ever demanding market place.
